International Day of mathematics

Every year on 14th march is celebrated as International Day of mathematics. The day is also known as Pi(3.14) Day.
Our school observed this day by organising following activities:
1.Presentation on IDM 2.Introducing 5 Mathematicians and their contribution.
3.Benefits of playing Rubik’s cube.
4.Quiz from classes 1-10
5. Rubik’s cube competition for the title STS GURUPURA’s ‘Fastest Rubik’s cube solver 2024.’

career day for Sambhota Tibetan School Gurupura

The annual career day for Sambhota Tibetan School Gurupura happened on Friday, February 23, 2024. The programme featured a presentation by students of class X, a career quiz, a showcase of professional attire, a brief career song, and a ramp walk by students of classes 4 and 5. Parents, teachers and children at last took a look at the chart that was hung up in the hallway.

HIV/AIDS prevention awareness

The school health committee held an HIV/AIDS prevention awareness session in the auditorium on December 1, 2023. Below are the activities done which are:

1. Explanations through power point presentation
2. Talk by Dr. Tenzin Choenyi la on debunking myths, spreading awareness, treatements and ways to prevent HIV/AIDS
3. Q&A session
4. Quiz Competition class wise
The school pledge to stop HIV stigma by spreading more awareness about HIV, sharing that knowledge with students and others.

School Safety Preparedness Drill on Earthquake

On 4th April, the Social Department organised the School Safety Preparedness Drill on Earthquake in the school. The purpose of the drill was to learn the safety practices for mitigating earthquake risk. All the staff and students actively participated by exercising the ‘Drop, Cover, Hold’ protocol followed by orderly evacuation.

Mr Tsering Dhondup La, the Director of STSS, visited Sambhota Gurupura

On 17th October, Mr Tsering Dhondup La, the Director of STSS, visited Sambhota Gurupura and it was an honour to have his presence in the school. He was welcomed wholeheartedly with students singing welcome songs followed by school assembly activities.
Later, Mr Tsering Dhondup observed the classes, visited kinder gardens, attended a small meeting and lastly a separate meeting with the staff members of the school. His visit was engaging and his wise thoughts and advice will always remain with all of us.

Visit to an old age home “Rabgyeling” by classes I to V

Here is a glimpse of a recent visit to an old age home by classes 1 to 5. Students performed gorshey, drama and other Tibetan cultural dances to entertain the elders. They also did a bit of cleaning around the area.
The aim of visiting old age home was to make the elders happy, feel special, and have a sense of belonging which will indirectly improve their physical and mental well-being. Students had a great time bonding with the elders and it was truly a meaningful day.

CTA has organised a workshop for the parents of our students on “Positive Parenting”

Department of Education, CTA has organised a workshop for the parents of our students on “Positive Parenting” and the resource person, Gen Kalsang Wangdu la of Manjushri Educational Services has blissfully explained the content with activities for 2 days (25-26 August) in our school hall.
His content was categorised in 3 questions/topics as follows:
1. Why is parenting important?
2. What are our long term parenting goals?
3. What are some of the key positive Parenting strategies?
The workshop was funded by “Global Affairs Canada” and arranged in our school by PTA members.
We are grateful for such informative and much needed insights on Positive Parenting and would like to thank all the stakeholders for the successful event.

A joyful learning experience by gamifying the math concepts.

Math mela was organised on 19.8.2022 inspired from STEM workshop at Aavishkaar,Palampur. The first activity was “ Maths Tambola” followed by maths exhibition in the afternoon. Students were delighted with the creative games.

Independence Day on 15th August 2023

The Hindi and Sports teacher organized a grand celebration of Independence Day on 15th August 2023 at the school. The event began with the hoisting of the national flag by the Principal. This was followed by a recitation of the national anthem by the students.

Tenzin Dodhon la then delivered a speech on the importance of Independence Day. She spoke about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to free India from British rule. She also urged the students to be patriotic and contribute to the development of the country.

The event concluded with a cultural program. The students performed songs, dances, and skits that depicted the rich culture and heritage of India.

The celebration was a huge success. It was a day to remember and celebrate the freedom that we enjoy today.
