As Sidney Sheldon once asserted “Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our (children’s) quality of life.” Having a strong believed in it, our school considered library is a place where it generates a knowledge for young’s mind, and is a hub of children’s to explore the world through it.

Keeping in mind of children easy accessibility of books, we divided our library into two areas; one room for middle readers (Comfort sitting space) and the other one for early readers (Relax and lie down reading space). All the readers have free & right access to their choice of book in library; they can also seek help from school librarian in choosing right book for them.

The school library is a central point for all kinds of reading, fun-based reading activities, access to various information and sources, knowledge building, deep thinking and active discussion. Having said that all, our school has following objectives:

  • To cultivate good reading habits among students.
  • To beautify the library and provides a peaceful and relaxing environment, so that children feel safe, welcoming and homely altogether.
  • To provide easy and free access to all the books and reading materials.
  • To improve and upgrade library collection frequently.
  • To exercise different fun-based reading activities to built a strong interest in reading.
  • Considering parent plays vital role in children’s growth, we involved them as much as possible in school activities.

Every year on 12 August, we observe the National Librarian’s Day in tribute to Dr. S.R Ranganathan, one of the India’s finniest librarian and educator, who greatly known as “Father of Library Science” in India. On that day, we conduct different activities such as; Pop-up library, Book Talk, Book Review Competition and Book Exhibition etc. Our students’ exhibit the new arrival books and initiate the Pop-up Library activity based on different themes and engage the audiences with books by involving and exercising different book games such as Musical Book, Play Act, Dumb Charade and Book Rally. As we consider (The 3 communities) i.e Parent, Teacher and Students play important role in developing the school’s atmosphere, we are thrill to invite all three to witness the event.

Considering all above, it is obvious that, every school should have a proper library. As someone rightly said “Schools without libraries are like plants without sunshine. The importance of library services and professionals that provide these valuable resources for students in our nation’s schools is indisputable.”
